Three Classes to Clarity
There are preventable mistakes we as writers make that keep our words from being published.
Spark teaches you the vaguely obscure stuff about writing, editing, and publishing, the weird stuff that get you cranky and confused, and the questions you never thought to ask – and none are dumb. Promise.
For $99.00 USD total, join me and a small group of others via Zoom for 60-75 minute classes over three weeks, and we’ll talk about:
Week One
Being This: I've seen a thousand queries from writers, so first things first, we'll talk about what you can do to help editors and publishers love you.
Not Being This: Then we'll talk about the most common mistakes when approaching editors and publishers, and every last one of them is an easy one to never make.
Week Two
Sending Out Your Work: Where are all the publishers hiding? Don't I need an agent? How do I even start getting my work out there? And what if I’m afraid to?
When They Say Yes: Holy crap your book or story was accepted, now what, now what, now the hell what? (We'll talk about fear briefly here, cause it's a big deal with writers, but we’ll get into it more in the third week.)
Week Three
Motivation: We'll talk about keeping up momentum even if you think your work is crap and we'll talk about the mind-killers: comparison and fear and how they can derail a career super quick.
A Career For the Long Haul: Well go deeper into what we’ve covered, digging into your specific questions, and I’ll talk about how I can help you going forward (including a tiny free gift!).
The things you don’t know are easy to learn and easy to use…if you don’t have time to do the Spark course, here’s a summary: be polite to editors and publishers, and always read their submission guidelines.
There’s lots more to share, of course, details about why and how those two things aren’t followed, what to do when you’ve followed them and nothing happens, and a lot more.
